Dieting Cartoons

It's nearly New year and thoughts turn to removing the excess poundage we gained over the year and Festive Period. Here's some of my thoughts on the question of dieting.

Fracking. No Thanks.

In my area of the UK, fracking is a big issue. I'm no expert, but I don't like what I hear about the risks involved versus the benefits. Unfortunately, there is big money involved in producing much needed energy and there will only ever be one winner in the battle between the environment and the corporations circling their pray. The legacy this will leave behind for future generations is unthinkable. I think Constable would have agreed too.

Michael Appleton, Blackpool FC, Caricature

This guy has some big boots to fill after Ian Holloway's reign at Bloomfield Road.

I guess in the future there won't be any boxed DVD gift sets in the Blackpool Football Gift Shop called "The Appleton Years".

Christmas Grouch Cartoon

Thr consumerism of Christmas becomes more and more irritating as you get older. The magic wears off once your kids grow up and the wonder of the season fades as a distant memory. Anyway, if you want to buy some of my stuff for Christmas, don't forget to visit my Red Bubble store. The link if on the right hand side.

Atkins Diet Adam and Eve Cartoon

"The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight, because by then your body and your fat are really good friends." - Unknown

Andrew Flintoff Boxing Cartoon

Freddie is a local sporting and drinking legend. I'm looking forward to the final episode of his documentory tonight featuring his first professional boxing fight.

What a great achievement and an inspiration to fat lads everywhere! You are a legend Freddie. I changed the cartoon slightly as I wasn't 100% sure about the wording. I think this is a slight improvement?

Sarah Millican Caricature

She's the best comedian around at the moment and it's refreshing to have a women on top of the pile for a change.

I wish her the best of luck in the British Comedy Awards which are being screened live next Wednesday, 12th December, 2012 on Channel 4. Let's hope she holds onto her crown!

Bradley Wiggins Caricature

2012 has been an outstanding year of amazing British sporting achievements but for me there is one that stands out. I'm not a cycling fan, but if Bradley Wiggins doesn't win the Sports Personality of the Year, it will be an injustice.

I was inspired by the fantastic comedian, Sarah Millican, after watching her on telly over the weekend.

Christmas Card Designs

I set myself a challenge to design 3 Christmas cards this year for both personal use and for sale on my Red Bubble site. The first two came fairly easily as I'd been meaning to draw something similar for ages. The third one, however, is proving more difficult. Watch this space!

My last card is about the "growing" success of the Movember charity campaign.

Facebook/Twitter Profile Picture

A magician friend of mine, Darren Robinson, asked me to produce a cartoon caricature of him for use as his profile picture and on his website. This was produced digitally using Painter 12. Check his website our:- http://www.darrenrobinson.co.uk/

Hoover Attachment

I based this cartoon on an actual conversation that I had the other day. You can't be fed a line like that and not take full advantage.

Charity Collection Bag Cartoon

I'm getting more like Victor Mildrew everyday but do we really need or want tons of plastic charity bags pushed through our letter boxes every week? There's only so many old clothes I've got and I'm wearing most of them. "I DON'T BELIEVE IT!"

David Shillinglaw Artist

I've not had as much time to paint recently and rather wished I'd chosen a simplier subject. I got the reference photo from David Shillinglaw's FB page. I love his work. I think it was taken in Paris whilst he was working on a commission to paint a clothes shop. Check out his work here:-http://www.facebook.com/pages/David-Shillinglaw/148897111800570?ref=ts

Caricature Cake

My caricature cake is finally available from Cheryl at Too Nice To Slice in Lytham. I will hand draw a caricature from photos and the image is transferred onto edible icing and Cheryl does the rest of the design to your specifications.

It's ideal for kids and adults birthdays, anniversary's etc. Try something new and different!

The photo, taken by Shanon Leigh Photography, shows me holding the caricature cake of Cheryl in her shop. The colours on the icing do fade with time and are alot brighter when the cake is first done. Let's face it, these cakes aren't going to stay uneaten long!

Caricatures, Blackpool Central Pier

The season is really starting to kick in now with the Scottish and Irish kids having broken up for the Summer holidays. The weather continues to be unsettled but when the sun does shine, the folk come out and have a laugh getting drawn at the studio.

I've run out of my old stock of Markette Markers, which have now been discontinued, so I've switch to using Chartpak Ad Markers. They took a bit of getting used to but now I'm loving them and feel that my work has improved too.

Here is a selection of my latest caricatures:-

Tyson Tattoo Caricature

This photo is funny for all the wrong reasons. I actually made this guy look cute! If I had more bottle, I'd have tucked a teddy bear under his arm. Drawn at the Caicature Studio, Central Pier, Blackpool.
