60th Birthday Caricature

A 60th birthday commission which needed to include; painting and decorating, scouting, archery, fishing, "Otto" the chocolate labrador and astronomy. Luckily, he had a good face.

First Digital Character Design Commission

I was asked by my client to design 4 digital characters for his new fast food burger restaurant using his brief design requirements. It was a fun project and a new direction for me. Thankfully he liked them all! Chilli burger, BBQ sauce burger, cheese burger and mushroom and stilton burger.

Done for the bride and groom as a surprise gift for their ushers at the wedding.

Queens Jubilee Street Party

In typical British style, our Queen's Jubilee Street party barbecue was spent huddled under a gazebo in the drizzle but I still managed to keep a stiff upper lip and draw a few damp caricatures.

Now Appearing at the End of the Central Pier, Blackpool!

I've finally landed a great pitch for the Summer season in Blackpool at the end of Central Pier in the ONLY caricature studio in town. Although I'll be sharing it with 2 other artists, the 10 hours shifts mean that it is very difficult to work more than a few days at a time for an old timer like me.

At the end of my first day working their yesterday, my brain had turned to mush and I ached all over but was pleased with the takings and my drawings. There is a real family atmosphere amongst the stall holders and I'm looking forward to working their again.

Wedding Sign-in Board - Digital File Only

This one was done at the last minute for a client who didn't have time to wait for me to matt and post the caricature. Instead, I simply did the drawing and scanned it into my laptop before emailing the file for the client to print out and matt himself.

Attitude is Everything

I'm sure I'm not alone moaning about life sometimes; my cars broken, I'm skint, fat and my artwork sucks, but when you draw someone like John, who smiled and laughed while I drew him despite being disabled and unable to talk, it makes you appreciate all that you have. Welly in a philosophical mood.

BIBA Conference, Manchester

Yesterday and today, I've been working on a stand with This Insurance at the Manchester Conference Centre. Last time I was there I was 20, it was called the GMEX and Simply Red were in concert! http://www.thisinsurance.co.uk/

Had a great couple of days and bumped into my fellow caricature artist and good mate, Mike Carlon who was working at the same event.

This is the free caricature I did for the winner of my 100 Facebook LIKE competition on my fan page. The winner wanted one done of his pregnant wife, Stefani Garcia, and I sent it just in time for mother's day :-)

Dawn and Chris's Wedding

My first time working at The Imperial Hotel, Blackpool with a great bunch of people who were up for a laugh.

Asian Wedding, Manchester

My first Asian wedding gig in Manchester last night and I was made to draw this beautiful couple on stage with my drawing board only in front of 500+ people whilst they greeted their guests and had their photos taken.

This was the hardest caricature I have ever done under that amount of pressure apart from my first ever live caricature in front of nobody when my pen was shaking so much I could barely hold it. It's hard to believe how far I have come over the last 12 months but I know I still have a lot of room for growth.
